Junior National Team Selection Criteria

The Junior National Championships are held each year for athletes 19 years old or younger. The competition is divided into classes grouped by age and gender. The event is held on hills ranging in size from K50 to K70. The US Ski & Snowboard-Central Division has an established and documented team selection qualification criteria for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes that is based on performance at designated Junior National Qualifier tournaments throughout the Central Division during the winter season.

This year the athletes from around the USA will travel to Anchorage, AK for the 2018 Junior National Championships

Ski Jumping Qualifications***

Boys qualifications: Best 2 of the 4 qualifying competitions and they must compete at 3 of the 4 qualifiers. The jump point totals must be within 60% of the top 3 athletes at each individual qualifier with a minimum of 110 average points

Girls Qualifications: Best 2 of the 4 qualifying competitions and they must compete at 3 of the 4 qualifiers. The jump point totals have a a mimimum average of 110 points.

*** Coaches Discretion is available for Athletes not qualifying by this criteria. Any discretion choices will be reviewed and approved by the Central Coaches Committee

Nordic Combined Qualifications***

Athletes must be able to safely jump on a K68 size hill AND be competitive in the cross country race, as determined by meeting all the following criteria;

1. Jump Point totals must be within 60% of the top two Nordic Combined qualifying athletes, with a minimum of 110 points average of two jumps.

2. For the cross country skiing component, the athlete must finish within 130% of the top two N/C Leaders, using the Gunderson Method (example, Joe finished race in 15 min, so Bill must finish in 15 * 1.3 or 19.5 minutes)
